Guides & Downloads Email SupportFrequently Asked Question's
Does the noise monitor need to be returned to switch from battery to mains power?
No. The NoiseSens EM2030 does not need to be returned to the laboratory. The unit is designed for flexible power options and can be switched between battery, mains, or solar on site. It accepts a 12V input and supports a wide mains range from 110V to 240V. To change the power source, simply replace the cable or adapter to suit the required supply.
Can the noise monitor be wall mounted?
Yes. The NoiseSens EM2030 can be securely wall mounted. The enclosure includes rear mounting points located inside the cabinet, ensuring the fixings are protected and tamper resistant. Installation requires access to the internal mounting points using a long screwdriver or extension tool. This allows the unit to be fixed to a wall or other vertical surface where tripod mounting is not suitable.
Why is the noise monitor the leading solution for construction monitoring?
The NoiseSens EM2030 is specifically designed for the demands of construction and demolition environments, where durability, reliability, and security are critical. Its robust enclosure is built to withstand impacts, harsh weather, and exposure to dust and water, including operation alongside water suppression systems. Unlike conventional noise monitors, the sealed cabinet protects the internal components while maintaining consistent performance in challenging site conditions. The system features a modular design with a remotely mounted microphone. This reduces the risk of damage or theft, as the most valuable components are less exposed. It also allows for more flexible and secure installation across a wide range of site setups. In addition, the unit is designed to be practical for real-world use, with a cost-effective enclosure that can be easily replaced if damaged. Its discreet appearance also helps reduce unwanted attention, lowering the likelihood of vandalism.
The noise monitor does not have a screen. How do I configure or calibrate it?
The NoiseSens EM2030 is intentionally designed without a screen to improve reliability and simplify operation on construction sites. Configuration and calibration are carried out via a mobile device using a secure WiFi connection. This removes the need for physical controls and reduces the risk of damage, tampering, or user error. The unit is built for real world site conditions, where power interruptions are common. It features an automatic reboot and recovery system, ensuring the monitor restarts and continues logging without manual intervention. Calibration is guided through a simple, automated process and is recorded both within the device and in the cloud system, providing a clear audit trail. Overall, the system is designed so that any site operative can deploy, configure, and maintain the monitor without requiring specialist training.
How can the EM2030 Noise Monitor be powered?
The EM2030 Noise Monitor offers flexible power options to suit a wide range of applications. It can be powered using 110V mains power, 240V mains power, rechargeable batteries, or a solar power system, making it suitable for both short term and long term monitoring projects.
Does the EM2030 Noise Monitor record audio?
Yes. When a pre-defined noise trigger level is exceeded, the EM2030 can automatically capture a short audio recording of the event. The recording is uploaded to Sonitus Cloud, where it is automatically categorised to help identify the likely source of the noise. This feature is included as standard on all hire units and is available as an optional add-on for purchased monitors.
Can I view the monitoring data remotely?
Yes. The EM2030 connects to Sonitus Cloud, allowing users to access live and historical monitoring data remotely from any internet connected device. Users can view noise levels, receive alerts, generate reports, and manage multiple monitoring locations through a secure online dashboard.
Can the EM2030 send alerts when noise limits are exceeded?
Yes. The EM2030 can be configured to send instant notifications via email or SMS when pre-set noise thresholds are exceeded. This enables site teams to respond quickly to potential issues, helping to maintain compliance and minimise disruption to nearby residents and stakeholders.
